I've always enjoyed those videogames where you can run freely around on rooftops and on the walls while combating against a multitude of aerial based enemies. I remember how videogames like Shinobi and Nightshade didn't get that much attention, but I liked the settings and gameplay within those games. DMC and God of War are pretty sweet too. In this aspect Versus seems more interesting to me. I'm also intrigued by Nomura's intentions for the storyline of Versus - the more he reveals about the story, the more I get anxious because I'm basing my own story on reality as well - the REAL reality with just the foundations of physics and limited aesthetics based in fantasy.

But because I've enjoyed FFVII and FFX so much, I know that FFXIII will be great as well.

I can't really judge either yet, but from what I do know about Versus, my vote goes to it. I like how it should be the darker side of the series. And with its gameplay being similar to KH, it should be pretty fast paced and fun. I don't know much about the story yet, so I'll call this a pre-judgment.

I gotta agree with Yurian the more is revealed the more I get excited about this versus game. It better be good since I have such high expectations.

Nomura said that XIII is supposed to interpret how much of Advent Children can be presented in a game. Since XIII is somewhat like ATB I wonder how much that system could be like the fast paced action in Advent Children, I would think with vXIII being an action RPG I think that could closer resemble AC.

At the moment I'm looking forward to FFXIII more, mainly because there's more actual information about the game currently available than there is for Versus. All they've shown for Versus is a couple of pre-rendered concept trailers, we haven't seen anything of the actual gameplay itself, so for me it's kind of hard to get as excited about it just yet.

Where did you get this from? The world seems to be a dark and miserable place in XIII and Lightning seems to be well aware of what shes doing to me.

It's not as dark as the world presented in Versus, for what little we know, if Lightning HAS lost her memory we're already working with one cliche, and it's not even a very good cliche. It was much more interesting when we thought she was just choosing not to use her real name.

The story will probably be somewhat similar to older FF's and have lots of themes, and motifs from previous FF's. But the only difference will be the battle system, which is so fast paced. I like it a lot. It's FF12, basically, in movement, but without the repetitive actions, but with new sequences of attack and different animations depending on the combo you fill up your ATB bar with.

I don't mind the game having clichés in it. It's really impossible to be "100% creative" nowadays. In the end what makes a story interesting is how its told and develops. If you take FF7 for what it is you will find it under a few clichés as well. Amnesia dude, mad guy trying to achieve godhood and destroy everyone else for no reason whatsoever (seriously lol), brute black guy, the poser dark/mysterious/emo dude, cute nice girl wearing pink falling in love with the hero...
But HOW the story grows is where you find its charm. And that's why I'm overly excited for FFXIII ;)

True, I like how you put it. I personally, can't think of any way that the two: FF13 and Versus 13 will have any love story in it. Versus I would think could have a love story but with one or both of the lovers end up dying at the end. I seriously think that Mr. Versus will die at the end of the game because didn't Tetsuya say that it's the most tragic FF he will ever create?
As for FF13, = awesome. I can't wait to play it.

I heard from SE in an intereview some time ago...from Nomura maybe? Anyway, he said it was going to be made as a Shakespearean tragedy. And the tragedies Shakespeare did ended with the main character dying. Romeo and Juliet being his most well known now. As well all know both Romeo and Juliet died. If SE was to plan it out Shakespeare style to a tee, then our lovable emo hero will meet a rather unfortunate end.

But that is why I like it, if just for the fact its a dark story. It's not like every other FF has been for so long, especially FFX, where everything seems happy and bubbly. It seems that SE wants to make it known that they are going more towards the opposite of that. It sounds really refreshing and I can't wait for it.

It is still farther off than the 'original' XIII is though so I'm not going to concern myself about it all that much. I'm looking forward to XIII more than Versus since its coming out sooner, has more information and will be the first game to introduce us to this seemingly new religion of that crystal business. Plus finally a true female hero. Breaking the mold finally. I'm optomistic that FFXIII will be a positive turn around for Final Fantasy since people seemed to dislike XII more than not. XI people usually say shouldn't have even been given a number and X was too cliche all over the place.

I'm talking too much again. Oh how I love to ramble. Anyway, FF hasn't seemed to have a game where everyone can agree on at least 2/3 with since FFVIII. But that's just my opinion with what I've seen from posting on several FF forums.

I don't really know, actually. Both stories intrest me greatly and for very different reasons.

While Versus is definitely darker, and will probably be one of the darkest games by Square Enix, I hope that Versus doesn't have this very dark feeling that presses down on you while you are playing. If it just is this dead serious game I will probably end up throwing my controller at the TV, I would like a bit of happiness and humor now and then, thank you.

But I think the new scans got me really interested in the games. You have glasses guy (why do I always like the characters with glasses? ._.; ), shotgun (who I think may play the role as the 'peppy' character in this game-but I think he'll know when to be serious when needed) aaaand Veruko, who I have very high hopes about as a character.

With the main game...

I think, really, we know less about the main game than Versus. Sure we know Lightning's name and stuff but I'm pretty sure we don't have the full playable party yet, and while we have the Farushi/Rushi thing and Pulse/Cocoon(forgive me if I spell that wrong), I feel that with Versus we have more information about the characters that interest me more right now than setting and storyline and stuff.

But I can't wait for Pigtails, though, for some reason I am very excited about Pigtails.

Overall I'm excited for both games but for different reasons...

Looking over my reasoning I'm going to say as of right now Versus, just by a tad.

Versus XIII for me, no doubt. XIII for some reason feels like it's going to be another XII, which, for me at least, is a very very bad thing. Yuck. Versus looks grittier, darker, the characters seem awesome and it's directed by Tetsuya Nomora. Can't wait.

Obviously this is speculation and based on very little info so I can't rule out XIII yet, no doubt i'll play both before making a final decision.

Yeah, that is what I think as well. I have heard rumors of a simultaneous release though. I just don't think Square-Enix would do that. Plus, they would have to have both games ready for launch at the same time. It just doesn't sound realistic.

So, I am going with what you said as well. I do think that Square-Enix wants us to enjoy the original installment, XIII, first, and then play Versus XIII.

Don't get me wrong I am excited for XIII as well. But I have always been more interested in Versus, its like a breath of fresh air. XIII has its own originality with a strong female as the main protagonist. But for some reason I am just not as excited for it *I am still eagerly awaiting it though* My opinions could change as we see more about both games.
What really makes me wonder is what if Versus doesn't have any monsters at all...?
