Did anyone actually think Cloud died?

I just watched the ending of Advent Children again and when I got to the bit where Cloud got shot I wondered, did anyone actually think he was gonna die at that point? I can't actually remember what I thought at the time. Any of you guys thought he was dead? :P

Actually, he did die, but Aerith and Zack brought him back down to earth (or Gaia Dx). At least thats what they say. :/

I didn't actually think he was going to die. It just wouldn't seem right if he did. Also, the way the story was going seemed as if he wouldn't die, or stayed dead, for long.

Before people get waaaayyyyyy off track with this, I highly doubt that Cloud actually died and was ooooo brought back to life by Aerith or Zack or whatever. It doesn't work that way. Has anyone even played the game? Well, I don't mean to split hairs here but lets recap everything that Cloud has survived. Before the FFVII, he was stabbed by Sephiroth through the heart (in the game it shows that it was through the heart) and he was later doped up on mako until the point he was catatonic. In the game, he survives a fall off the plate. Let me say that again. He falls off the plate which was easily more than an 80 story drop. He got up from that like nothing happened. And no, actually it was not the flowers that cushioned his fall. This is a man that went sky diving without a parachute (joking) slammed into the ground, and got up like it was an everyday thing. In addition, he later survived another stint of mako poisoning, defeated Sephiroth, in AC he was shot in the head by Yazoo, etcetera etcetera. Now come on, could an explosion really have done him in. The only thing that happened was that Cloud was knocked out. This is the power of JENOVA, no, even greater! That is Cloud Strife's power.
