I did read this interview earlier today but it just isn't possible to understand properly without a real translation. I'm gonna have another read of it and see if I can pick anything specific out of it.

evil_maiki from that thread made a good attempt at translating it although it's almost identical to everything we've heard before. The only new things they mention is the fact that the Versus characters design isn't finished (which we knew a while ago but apparently it STILL isn't finished) and that they have no plans on selling the figures of either Lightning or the Versus guy because the games are still in development.

well, from what i can gather also, it seems Nomura-kun is avoiding what we all really want to know.. but telling us in a roundabout way what we already do.

this could be a possible explanation for no further progress reports on the much hyped-up FFXIII Versus installment:

mayhaps also because this signals his final contribution to the Final Fantasy franchise, that he's in no rush to finish it. HE WANTS IT TO BE HIS LASTING LEGACY. and as legacies go, it seems he's pouring his entire soul into it.. and of course perfection is also paramount.

so it looks like this is going to be a very long and drawn-out wait.. :'(

The first half of the interview has Toriyama, Kitase and Nomura talking about what they think of the PS3 and they express their love for it as usual. I don't want to bother translating (chameleon did a good job on the beginning parts of it though) because it's the usual stuff we already know but to sum it up, as Nomura said, "it's not just about how pretty the graphics are but more of how much limited amount of movement we can put in one go and how big our imagination and ideas are. The PS3 is the machine that is closest to being able to express our imagination."

Second half of the interview touched a bit on Versus XIII:

-- How is the development of Versus XIII going?
Nomura: Everyone is very excited over this so I think we can make something good out of this. Part of our team has been together since the FF7 days but since we've spent such a long time working on KH, a lot of spirit is going into the development of a long-awaited FF for us.

-- What kind of FF will it turn out to be like?
Nomura: The action elements will be high in the game but instead of defeating the enemies from an audience's view, I want to give people the taste of actually being part of that world. The assignment here is whether we can build an FF with the suspense and thrill of Third-Person-Shooting or not. In that sense, the game will be a slightly different type of FF.

Nothing much new. But then there's another Nomura interview in the Dengeki PS extra booklet called "Re:Play" and, although the interview focused more on merchandising, it has some interesting news in it.

- Apparently Squenix wants to figure-ize more characters designed by Nomura but Nomura will instead be supervising more on accessories and apparel-related merchandises. He will probably make some original designs, too.

- It's confimed that Subarashiki Kono Sekai will have some action figures. Apparently there's a photo of a 15-cm-tall Neku and Shiki. No release date so far, though. (Apparently there's also a new figure for the PS version of Cloud)

- Still no plans of selling the Lightning figure since the game is still under development and there might be some alterations to her design. For now, the figure is only for show in events.

- No plans for a figure of Versus XIII main character too because the game is still under development and his design is still incomplete. However, they might think something apparel-wise.

- Everything shown of Versus XIII so far are still in temporary state. Nomura wants to do something new but it'll take some time to finish so the main character will have to keep wearing his 'temporary clothes' for awhile for now. Currently, Nomura's steadily finishing the designs of the other party members in the game so he should be able to show them someday. (hopefully soon)

yeah im thinking the same thing. versus guy and lightning are awesome, so ill be getting those figures once they come out^_^
