I guess you could use that argument. But often times Roleplays on bigger forums become messy and difficult to control. Furthermore, with so many people, the possibilities of developing a more in depth story line are limited as people stick to simpler methods of interaction. I even don't attempt to join a roleplay on larger forums - much less join a large forum in the first place; they lack the intimacy of smaller more concentrated forums.

Because we have an acceptable amount of people - and at least creative people - I thought it wouldn't hurt to develop at least a test roleplay. There are people who visit this forum regularly, and with that fact it's still possible for a dedicated roleplay to be successful.

Of course developing a roleplay depends on the dedication of the players who would try it out - that's why I made this thread in the first place. And not to be rude to those who enjoy chatting over less focused subjects, I think a roleplay would allow a different and refreshing kind of enjoyable interaction.

If I didn't consider the possibility of a successful roleplay, I wouldn't have made this thread. Of course, if this thread doesn't fill up then it's purpose is done; I'll try again later. :D

I'm still ironing out some elements, but here's a small write up just to spark some curiosity:

I've never watched Escaflowne before. If the story includes people who have ventured to a different world, but wonder about the world they originally came from - that theme has already been explored in many different stories outside of 'Escaflowne' and anime and general fantasy/sci-fi plots. It's difficult to create something original when the human psyche can only venture so far in such a small time span.

Furthermore, this 'humans came from another planet but forgot that' is an actual theory proposed by several historians and scientists that humans actually came from another planet.

In addition, what do you expect of me? ^_^

I've decided to put what I've got so far, because it would be a waste if I made it for nothing. So...the purpose for it now is to reel in the curiosity of more players! Sorry about the trojan wall of text, but I think it will be more interesting with more of a background to work from. I'll remember to create a map, too - remembering these countries is hard for me as well.

Although I've got some ideas for the different customs and traditions of the various countries, I haven't written them down yet.

The year is 4331 A.A.D. – 4331 After Anno Domini – and Second Earth, with The Gureino Government set in place, is already at World Peace.








General Terms:1) Amethest (adj. Amethestien): One of the seven countries of Second Earth. Although it is traditionally characterized as an Azurrien Satellite, its government is characterized as a monarchy. It is divided into two states: Weine (pronounce ‘Whine’; adj. Weineren) and Pulum (pronounce ‘Poo-lum’; adj. Pulumian).
2) Azurrel (adj. Azurren): One of the seven countries of Second Earth, it is characterized by its republican governing system. It is divided into four states: Berile (pronounce ‘Beer-el’; adj. Berilien), Safire (adj. Safirien), Marline (adj. Marline), and Kowbault (pronounce ‘Coe-balt’; adj. Kowbault).








3) The Gureino Government (a.k.a. Gurei) (pronounce ‘Goo-ray-no’; adj. Gureino): One of the seven countries of Second Earth, it ended the constant warfare and began the World Peace.a. The Ship City: A humongous and deserted space-ship like city located at the south coast of Gurei, it was the ‘Ark’ that humanity traveled on from Earth to Second Earth.
b. World Peace: A term describing a world condition where no countries are at war; it was set in place by The Gureino Government on 3536 A.A.D after World War XXXI.








4) Koral (adj. Koralien): One of the seven countries of Second Earth, it is characterized as a Vermilian Satellite.
5) Per-Perel(adj. Per-Perrelen): One of the two continents of Second Earth, it is also the smallest. Owned by The Gureino Government, it is restricted to popular access.
6) Sabelle (pronounce ‘Say-bell’; adj. Sabellen): One of the two continents of Second Earth, it is also the largest. It contains the seven countries of Second Earth.
7) Satellite: A term describing countries that support another country through finances and foreign policies. Satellites usually have similar infrastructures to their base country as well.







8) Second Earth: The planet humans migrated to after Earth was consumed by its Light.a. A.A.D. (After Anno Domini): A term chronicling the arrival of humans on Second Earth, and the end of Anno Domini.
b. A.D. (Anno Domini): The year system used on Earth, it lasted roughly 5000 years before humans landed on Second Earth.
c. A.S. (Alpha Seraphim): The Light of Second Earth.
d. (A planet’s) Light: A planet’s nearest star.
e. World War XXXI: A war involving all the countries of Second Earth, it was the thirteenth and final World War on Second Earth before World Peace was set in place. Setting the Blue Alliance against the Red Unity, the War was eventually stopped by The Gureino Government (then just Gurei).








9) Vermilia (adj. Vermilian): One of the seven countries of Second Earth, it is characterized by its feudul communist governing system. It also hosts the largest religious group on Second Earth: The Auriels. a. The Auriels: A religious philosopher group focused in Vermilia and Koral, it claims that humans once came from a different planet. Basing their beliefs on the Eidetic Memories of the general population’s latent childhood dreams and The Ship City, The Auriels propose that the day of Ultimate Revelation will lead humanity back to Earth.i. Eidetic Memories: A term coined by The Auriels, it described the strange dream that occurs in children. It is usually described as being filled with “Angels”, “A Big Monster”, “bright lights”, “a big shining city”, and “suns, stars, and moons”.
ii. The Ultimate Revelation: A term The Auriels describe to be the state of knowing everything.









10) Viridia (adj. Viridian): One of the seven countries of Second Earth, it is characterized as an Azurrien Satellite and divided into two states: Yuuth (adj. Yuuthen) and Aanshent (adj. Aanshen). It also hosts the Freedom Power Rebels, a small group of anti-Peace protesters.a. Freedom Power Rebels: A small radical group based in Western Viridia, they protest (violently) against the World Peace set in place by The Gureino Government. In a smaller scope, they also protest against the Viridian dependence on Azurrel. Their common phrase is “World Peace is just a false salvation”.


11) Lityar Ocean: The Ocean west of Sabelle.
12) Oodee Ocean: The Ocean east of Sabelle.
13) Left Sea: The body of water between Vermilia and Per-Perel.
14) Izquierda Gulf: The body of water between Viridia and Per-Perel.

As for the basic idea of things, I'm still ironing out the given plot details. As soon as a roleplay forum is up, I'll give out all the background information.

If you want, you can think up what kind of character you would like to create. I know weapons and abilities are kind of out of the picture right now - as I haven't said anything about what the universe's characteristics are like - but things like personality, etc. are still open. >:D

Is it set in futuristic terms (due to the 448 AAD thing) or is it like post-apocolyptic, all civilization going back to swords and fuedal weapons?

It's gearing more towards a semi-future era. Think "I can block your bullets with my sword", or - aha! Metal Gear Solid 2. Not the same premise, but it's something like a near future of our world.

I'm almost done with typing up the background information. I have three parts:

1) General Information: Information that is necessary to know.
2) Elaborated Information: More in depth information from the General Information.
3) Physics Information: Information regarding this universe's physical characteristics i.e. how bodies work, how fighting abilities work, etc.

I'm still working on the Elaborated Information - the other two sections are complete.

As the third part is probably the most interesting, here it is:

According to my discussion with Kitmitsu, I think the Roleplay Section will open tomorrow. 'Second Earth' - the name of our roleplay - will hopefully begin a few days later after I've smoothed everything out. Hopefully we can attract more players as well.

The World is too large for so few players - maybe we can create more than one character. It's kind of my dang fault for getting carried away with the details...but I can't help it!

Individual: a distinct, indivisible entity; a single thing, being, instance, or item.

I meant individual as opposed to many. For example, Second Earth is an individual roleplay not because it is a roleplay for a single person, but because it is a distinct roleplay among many other roleplays.

An individual group is not a group with one person, but rather a distinct group within many other groups.

Yurian is sorry for the confusion. :P
