there are so many fans out there waiting for FFXIII and most of them will inevitably buy the game, but do you feel any pressure to deliver?
Motomu Toriyama
Whenever we develop a new final fantasy game for a new hardware format, we're very conscious to make use of the new consoles key specifications and features, so there definitely a pressure to perform. with final fantasy XIII on the ps3 we're definitely feeling that type of pressure.

With Final Fantasy XIII youve decided to spread the project over three titles, including one for mobile phones. what was the thinking behind that? is there any particular objective
Motomu Toryiama
In Fact, the Fabula Nova Crystallis Final Fantasy 13 project isint limited to three titles- there are many different aspects . in terms of the formats we're reaching, as well as its not simply exclusive to ps3 and moblie phones. (i think he means Wii not 360 so expect a wii version of a ff13 game) In latin Fabula Nova Crystallis means "the new crystal story" and we're using that as a base for the project, but there are many characters and legends that are branching off from the main story and universe. its a huge project....

If we can move onto the battle system in final fantasy XIII, how does the game play differently to previous Final Fantasy titles?
Moromou Toriyama
The Active Timer Battle system of recent final fantasy agmes has been speeded up to its limit in Final fantasy XIII. It cant get any quicker then this. Compared with previous Final fntasy games the pace of the battles has been drastically increased. But we still managed to retain he tactical and strategic characteristics of the series.

Could you tells us a litttle about the most interesting characters in Final Fantasy XIII?
Moromu toriyama
i can only talk about lighting at the moment. shes the main character, but in the game she is reluctant to talk about her self and her past, so there is a strong element of mystery about her character. the name lightning is just a tag that she has chosen- its actually not here real name. We're planning to talk about other characters in the bear future, but we're deliberately revealing them in a particular order, so im afraid you just have to wait for more revelations.....

How does Final Fantasy XIII use the ps3's key features- its BluRay disc format, the playstation network and so on?
Moromu Toriyama
The playstation 3's high definition capabilities are really helping us develop Final fantasy XIII's drama scenes with extra sense of presence and impact. i think we'll be able to achieve a lot of things that were previously impossible: we're really creating a greater degree of expression as far as the games characters are concerned, and we're also innovating a split display to show whats happening in the game to different characters in different locations at the same time. (wow thats new) We havent decided whether to make use of the playstation 3's online functions, but we're thinking about it....

Are there likely to be any minigames in Final Fantasy XIII?
Moromu Toriyama
We're still debating whether or not to include mini-games or not in Final fantasy XIII project, but if we were to develop mini-games in this universe we'd probably think about developing them into separate releases (sounds perfect for the Wii lol) Brand new games in there own right.

How long do you expect it to take the typical player to see the entirety of Final Fantasy XIII?
Moromu Toriyama
Well, we want to mantain the volume of previous Final Fantasy games, so you can expect Final Fantasy XIII to be just as long
Games.tm
And here's the BIGGIE. When can we expect Final Fantasy XIII released?
Moromu Toriyama
im afraid we still haven't set a release date.
