I admit that I love wikipedia because it's simple to find something. But you can't always rely on it. Especially since Square hasn't really announced the name, so we can't be positive that Oji is his actual name.

Ugh... Wikipedia. Unreliable source. "Oji" is the result of a Google translated page. Sorry but that misinformation is already on some sites. Also, his hair's not blue.

Oji the protagonist is a mysterious young man with dark blue-ish gray hair with matching eyes. He is the last heir to a dynasty, ruling the only remaining city in the world which controls crystals. He protects his home from marauders that plan to conquer the city and take the crystals as their own. He wields a number of different weapons, including swords, spears, and lances, and can even induce them (telekinetically or otherwise) to independently move in the air to form a whirling barrier around himself. He has also demonstrated the power of instantaneous teleportation. His physical features seem to change depending on his actions, as his eye color turns red when holding his sword and his hair flashes white when teleporting. Nomura has said that his eye color will change to more colors, some scans have shown him with bright yellow eyes when holding a different sword, and other colors like green. As hinted by Nomura, it has been shown he can use magic as surrounding the white-robed figure with numerous swords.
Nomura has also confirmed that a heroine, parallel to the protagonist, will be present in the game.
Other revealed characters are the mysterious soldiers. These unknown warriors wear medieval-styled armor, but also carry assault rifles resembling modern automatic weapons. Another character revealed is a new character wearing all white (a possibly symbolic contrast from the protagonist's darker clothing) introduced in the new trailer. The character is seen in protagonist's building near the castle as they both cast spells at each other, implying that they are enemies.
Yeah, considering I couldn't see any mention of a name on the Wiki page anyway, I highly doubt that this is accurate, sorry.

Ok please don't quadruple post, click Edit and add stuff to your original post if you forget things.
Also, even if it does say that on Wiki, like we've all said, it's not accurate. Some random person could easilly have gone in there and edited it. Until we get an official announcement from S-E that that's his name, don't believe any new info that Wiki gives you.
And I for one hope that's not his name, it doesn't suit him at all and it sounds stupid.

erm if you relized some idiots or people can edit text on wikipedia.
1.the name oji kinda sucks....no offence
2.wiki isnt always 100% accurate its just about 98% acurate
3.Has nomura said his name is oji to wikipedia........NO
and finally..................
some scans have shown him with bright yellow eyes when holding a different sword
well looking at the picture from a scan below............his eyes are crimson with a orangy tint to it when the light reflects on it.......not yellow

That quote from Wiki also says they glow yellow when holding a different sword though - as you can see in that scan he's not holding a sword, so that point is irrelevent.

I know Wiki isn't dependable, I've been saying it throughout this whole thread >.>
My point was that you're making a point about Wiki saying that his eyes glow yellow when holding a sword, and then you show a picture where he isn't even holding a sword. That doesn't prove anything. If you wanted to prove that Wiki isn't dependable then you should show some pictures where he is holding a sword and his eyes aren't yellow.
Besides, S-E doesn't need to officially announce that his eyes glow yellow if we can clearly see it for ourselves in an image - the thing is, I haven't seen such an image.

Firstly, jam3zs, don't post multiple times in a row again. You're new so I'll let it go this time, but next time will result in an infraction.
Secondly, I remember back before FFXII was released, Wiki had a shit load of info on the game that turned to be false after the game was released. I find that proof enough they're unreliable until the game actually comes out, or Nomura actually says something.

and these misunderstandings lead to people making revolutions that his name-literally is oji.....its kinda annoying when its not official then we get all this coming up...even if it was a misunderstanding of the meaning other people mistake it to be true....i.e the bit where someone said his name was literally oji

I think Storm is too obvious personally... If Nomura is doing this anything like Kingdom Hearts, he would use a name that only means a type of weather or element or something in another language, like how Sora means Sky, Riku means Land, and Kairi means Sea.
So what's Japanese for Storm?

His name isn't Storm...it's too obvious...and it won't be in Japanese. None of the main characters in FF have had Japanese names. If you notice, the game has a major foreign influence. Based on the new trailer, people are suggesting that the game is influenced by Hamlet by Shakespeare...which would explain the quote. The different settings in the new trailer supposedly resemble different places in Italy. So you should expect a European name, which is why I suggested Nacht.

I said if Nomura did this anything like Kingdom Hearts the name would be Japanese, not Final Fantasy. And Italy-influenced areas aren't the only places in the game, the city from the very first trailer is supposed to be based on Tokyo for cryin out loud.
Arashi sounds really Arabic to me lol =/ But it does sound more like a name a main character would have.

Ok...so what, I know all of this already. As I said, the names are never directly japanese....unlike Arashi. When I say main character...I mean main protagonist, so I apologize for misleading you. And I was talking about the second trailer...if you read Hamlet you should be able to see the similarities in the characters. So yeah...I was hardly trying to be the epitome of originality. Maybe you should put your meat in your own mouth, before you jump to conclusions.

Umm...yeah, Tidus is, and again...his name is not japanese. It's derived from a japanese word, but it's not japanese itself. Rade suggested his name would be Arashi. Arashi is an actual japanese word meaning Storm. So you're the one who has been wrong many times over. Anyway, I'm not going to argue over a forum especially over this insignificant topic, it's pointless.
And yes you are correct about your ideas on the trailers.

To me he doesn't look depressed or anything: just emotionless. If you are emotionless, how would you be emo?
