Who else was glad to see blood in the Versus trailer? However sadistic that sounds I'm really glad they added it in. The only blood we've had in Final Fantasy's is Squall's forehead and Cloud getting stabbed in Advent Children.
I think I'm mainly happy because I always had a feeling Nomura may make it sort of similar to Kingdom Hearts...I guess this makes me feel better. :P

When he stabbed that solider in mid air i was preety much amazed.
Nice to see they are adding elements such as blood into FF games now, well in gameplay and cutscenes hopefully.

Not as much blood as it was hyped up to be. I only really found one scene, which was the falling stab of course.

It was little but it was good. Nomura always gave me the impression of wanting to direct FF towards more serious themes and so blood would eventually happen in a game directed by him. All in all, I didn't care about FFvsXIII at all before, but with this new trailer I am curious

i like the fact that Vxiii has blood, it makes it look realistic. id also like to see severed limbs and broken bones, like when a person gets his leg cut off you should be able see their bones, at least do somthing like that as a critical/finishing attack.
Is that too gory?

Could the power of CELL make broken bones stick out of the skin? Realtime in battle? In that visually disgusting hollywood-style?

Dark Remnant
Dec 19 2007, 12:07 AM
Oh I think a soldier would matter more than a Sahagin but even so I ca't see blood being a recurring thing for FF Versus XIII because if it's too gory then the age certificate on the game will be raised, leaving all the younger FF fans in the dark and as I've said before; I think SE are just experimenting with stuff at this point.

There will be blood in the final product, Remnant. Whether it'll be for this scene only (like in previous FFs) or as often as even during normal ingame battles is yet to be seen though, I'm expecting it to appear in a couple cutscenes, but not that much to make it a M rated game.

YES FINALLY. I like games with blood, it's more realistic. As long as it's not to the point where a papergut gushes blood like a fountain, I'm okay. I mean, I remember there was this one anime or game or something that had unrealistic amounts of blood. I believe it was Hellsing. Anyway, when someone is shot, they pretty much exploded in a giant ball of blood.

Not if he doesn't stab anyone.
Notice how he only stabbed one person and the rest he just slashed with with his sword and (well wadd'ya know) there was no blood?
Because that one stabbing was an experiment, nothing more, if that scene appears in the game it will be one of few if at all. Blood will not be a common theme in this game, no matter how badly you want it to be.

Keep in mind this is a series where otherwise fatal gunshots and sword cuts aren't enough to kill something in one hit.
Cathryn
Dec 20 2007, 02:23 PM
But mind, you the relisim in somebody slashing a armoured soldier wouldn't result in blood flying everywhere, you most likely wouldn't see any blood at all because of the camera angles within the trailer, but as for gunshots and stab's which pentrate, i'd like to see blood, which shows nicely in the trailer.
Minus the gunshot pentration, you just see soldiers being used as a second recoil from their shots which reflected off the characters shield.

Wow bump rofl xD itd be kinda cool to see a nice blood decal or two in their games xD
There was blood?! Jesus, I'm out of it; need to go back through and watch again. Anyway, since apparently there was blood, that's freakin' awesome! I'm really tired of everything being so controversial and toned down now a days. Whatever happened to the times when someone got stabbed or wounded, they bleed as a result? Or do humans no longer do that...
I just want to see something realistic, something dark, and I'm counting on these games to do that for me.

If there's blood I sure hope there will be an option to turn it off. The blood looked realistic in the trailer, I accept that but I don't want my FF to be a blood fest.
Usually I don't complain about blood but I really don't want to see (much) blood in this game. Not in battles. In FMV's it would be a good thing though  but it shouldn't be flooding with it.

Do not fear, Entity, I'm sure Square Enix will not let Versus become a blood bath or a blood fest. If they're keeping the blood I'm sure it won't show up that much.
And don't worry because blood is virtually harmless;) But I'm not sure if there is going to be blood in only scenes or if the blood will be visible while you're fighting in the game itself.:|

I love the blood man it's awesome, also the neck snap too :] I don't think it will be anything like GoW but for a FF game the amount shown is just about right to be able to give the game that colder feel.

I don't think I've read such a sadistic thread. But I really could care less, hell in many great movies you see tons of fighting but absolutely no blood, but in others *coughKillBillcough* they have to put it in black and white so people wouldn't get too sick while watching it.

Can you seriously get too sick of watching too much blood in a movie? We all know its fake, I would kind of like to see that when you defeat a boss that you see blood all over their face. It would be awesome, but it doesn't have to be that way. Maybe only in certain scenes there will be blood.

Well, there are people who really do get sick from blood, my sister's friend once fainted just from a little drop from a scab. And apparently that is why the scene in Kill Bill Vol. 1 where Beatrix fights the crazy 88s, was in black and white.

^They better not pull that crap off! If they take out the blood I'm not going to be a happy girl- besides this is supposed to be a dark game or whatever right?
So it would be a crime not to put the blood in; there must be blood! I don't care how much but it has to be inevitable. And if people don't like the idea of a little blood they should just get over it or whatever.
Oh, and referring to what Larsa said previously about this being a sadistic thread, I on that note would like to add that I think it would be cool if in the game we can chop people's (enemies of course) heads off and watch the blood splurt out!^_^ Like in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie!

Either way, i wouldnt mind if they put blood in. it would be more realistic that way. I just hope its a realistic amount, and not over the top. It just takes away from the scene and what is actually going on.
It'd be wierd if Versus turns out to M rated. I dont think if they put a realistic amount of blood in and dont make it the main focus then it should still be T but idk what do i know?

I don't think the game would turn out to M rated, no way- that would be too weird; that's only if the blood becomes over the top and like previous people said I don't think they will put too much blood in. The blood is only there to make the game more realistic^_^

You know... I expect it to be the same with previous Final Fantasy titles. One gushing blood scene and that's it. Like CC or FFVIII opening.

Blood always adds to the dramatic effect in Square footage (Sephiroth dying, Squall getting scarred, Kuja seemingly invincible against summons but not...., etc). If they add blood where just your average soldier gets stabbed, Square's serious about the whole blood deal.

That's a really good point, i never thought of that.

I like it because it shows that the game is a little darker and a little more mature. Before i saw the trailer i heard the Kingdom Hearts people were helping to make it and i was a little worried it would be too close to KH as far as animation. (waits to be attacked by KH fans....No offence, just not a fan). But then after seeing the trailer i was really pleasantly surprised and amazed and now im more excited about it then i am for FFXIII. CANT WAIT!
