As far as I was aware it was an offshoot of the harcore movement that originated as "post hardcore" and for some bizarre reason covers musical genres that have no sonic relation whatsoever - Bullet for my Valentine and Dashboard Confessional anyone?

It seems as though any guitar band with a singer who can actually sing is classified as an emo band.

I can accept to a degree that this seemingly non-existant musical movement has somehow moved on to a look/vibe/fashion, however it is entirely beyond my comprehension that the word has taken on connotations of emotional befuddlement. It's stunning how people can pass judgement on an individuals character & personality without thought!

I don't think the Prince is emo, i think his "depressive" state comes from concerns about his kingdom. He doesn't seem to have much clue of how to properly prevent them (cannon fodder soldiers) from causing too much havoc (like killing the royal mafia dudes outside the throne room).

And also, it seems like Mr White Hood wants to destroy the crystal (the shrine-relic-thingy above the throne) - doing so would probably mean the death of magic all together. Maybe the Prince fears that. (maybe the crystal is the source of their technology, if it is destroyed, then perhaps they will become medieval like the soldiers)

At least that's my 2 cents, Nomura probably has something more complex and interesting in mind.
