View Full Version : Summons

Well whatever they call them in this game they're certain to appear. Which summons would you like to appear in FFXIII from previous games? Also which game made them look the best? I'd put up a poll but theres too many of them :P

I dont really know which my favourite is, either Ifrit or Bahamut i think. I prefered how the aeons looked in FFX because they looked more like animals. I didnt like how some of the ones in earlier games were people. I also though Ixion was a pretty good replacement for an electric element summon ^_^

I would like Shiva to be in FFXIII since she was awesome in FFX. Just like a real human with a frozen body, long blue hair and sexy:P but in another style, not the same as FFX. Then Bahamut of course! he has been in all the ff games and should be in FFXIII as well, with a much more better style but still a bit similar to the old ones. Actually when I am thinking after summons in FFXIII, I think that there should be many more new summons instead of the old ones. Some who have been all the way through all the ff should be in FFXIII too, like Shiva and Bahamut for instance. Maybe a few more, but there should be some new as well, like Ixion in FFX, it was a great summon I think. Maybe they should take some from old ff games and remake them;; just a thought if it sounds like a ridiculous idea:P

They have been taking summons from old games and remaking them. Rarely any summon is *new* and if it is the summon is nothing more then a enemy in a past game or the most powerful summon(which can be seen in influences from older games).

personally though, I could care less for summons. I rather my characters be at a point where they don't need the aid of a summon of sort to aid them. The most summons have added in the recent FF's were to make them seem important in the storyline and make the game seriously easy. They are nothing more than a trophy like keeping Limit Breaks around.

When you say "the most powerful summon" did we ever see the last Aeon in FFX? Or do it take the shape of the person who sacrifice himself? Or was it the shape of sin himself?

Can't remeber it.

I wish they'd have Sin as a Summoning for this game. But I'd like to see Shiva, The Magus Sisters and Anima back.

Sin would be overkill. As in overkill every time you battle with him/her. Plus one of your friends would have to die when you use him/her/frigginhugething. But I'll bet it would be cool it the summoning of sin looks like the beginning in FFX. (best. opening. ever.)

Hopefully, if this game has Summonings, it will be like FFX, I really liked how we can control them and stuff. Sin could be like the ultimate hidden Summoning. Like The Magus Sisters in FFX. Sin is so cool. Braska's Final Aeon would be cool for a summoning as well.

The summons in FFXII were new weren't they? I think that in FFXIII they will have some new ones but for nostalgic purposes throw in some of the older ones. But if they did that I would want the old ones to have radically different looks. Not look unrecognizable but look really different. For sure, Magus Sisters and Shiva were the bomb and should be in FFXIII.

Desi

Not all of the FFXII summons were new. Most were FFT bosses and FFTA race special summons. Others were final bosses/enemies from older FF's. Which gives it an even bigger nostalgic feeling.

I think most of them are from FFTAand Ifrit has been in FF7 and FF10.

I really liked the Magus Sisters as bugs, it was so pretty when Yuna summoned them. If they change them I hope they still keep them like that. As for Shiva, I'd like to see her different... She's always been the naked blue woman (for what I can remember XD)

Ifrit has been in more then just 7 and 10. More like 3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11, tactics, tactics advanced. And some other spin off things.

magus sisters are from FF4, so they made the enemy to summon translation like X-death from 5 to 12(as an example) and TA.

I've never played 1-6 and 8, 9 and 11. I want to play 9 though. I knew the Magus Sisters were from 4, my friend told me. Anima is pretty cool too, but it is seems like a sad aeon so I hope it doesn't come back. It's depressing... =(

Off-topic again: in FFXII the more well known summons from the FF series are the names of airships. Carbuncle, Atomos(i believe), Shiva, Ifrit, etc etc.

AND Shiva better snap her fingers here too! or else...and alexander, anima, possibly eden, DOOMTRAIN DOOMTRAIN DOOMTRAIN, leviathan, ifrit, shiva, bahamuth, diablos, at least these (VIII had a holy 16). and plz let Anima's oblivion do 1599984 damage....

I loved the fact that there were so many summons. However, I appreciated the smaller number of summons in FFX and the fact that you could play as them because it made me feel more in control and that the summons were worth summoning other than just dealing major damage then leaving.

I hope the same trend continues on throughout Final Fantasy XIII, like how you can ride shiva as a bike << please no puns.

Well... if the summons are changing into mechanical items I would hope and pray it goes something like this............. I am basically going on Wikipedia.orgs list of the more prominent Final Fantasy Summons.... Anybody like to come up with some more for me? lol

Alexander - Something like a steam train.....? I duno....
Bahamut - THE AIRSHIP!
Leviathan -Possibly like a boat or something?
Odin - Could turn into a weapon? Or something like a gun blade?
Shiva - Clearly turns into the bike.

Just a quicky.... right, COME UP WITH SOME MORE!

I Think that:

-Odin will be some sort of special mechanical greatsword
-Andrammelech should be some sort of gun
-Shiva is obviously a motorcycle
-I think that it would be cool if Bahamut or Leviathan could made you like glide or surf on land and buildings and stuff and runs enimes over.

I like the idea of the summons turning into different vehicles, itīs very original. LIke, FFXIIIīs little own special charm.

Everyiones ideas here on different transforms are very interesting, but i canīt come up with any myself. BTW have you seen on one of the scans this huge airship thing with a big red sky as background? Could be ifrit, who knows? Itīs in the FFXIII scans.

Yes it is the city Coccon, it flys/is a big airship think Star Trek. I said the picture is very old as a way to say "yes we have seen it because the picture is hosted on the site in the magazine scan section". So I don't see it as immature at all, you are just being offensive.

See, since its been clear we have Shiva coming back in XIII, we immediately assume(and are most likely correct) that Ifrit will also return, and even Bahamut- because one classic summon leads to another. Then I guess we can count Leviathan in too, among the classics...but seriously, I'd like to see some brand new summmons as well, and a new ultimate summon for sure...something bigger and badder than KOTR, Magus Sisters or Zodiac.

The creature must be a behemoth for sure, not bahamut. And i may be crasy right now, but i think we were shown bahamut already. Think with me: shiva transforms into a motorcicle (or vice-versa) then bahamut will transform into an airship. and according to nomura the summons will be useful outside of battle, like shiva being used to travel the world... soooooo if we assume that airshipos are got later in the game i think the airship shown in a scan i saw may be bahamut (or maybe not anyway).
*My favorite summon is Odin in FFVIII, for its might and godly design, just like a summon must be (and not like some pets we've had before)

Ramuh skin is Snow White in XI and armor Night Black. His story (which is false) is about a old wizard from a gone civilization.

Bearing in mind that a lot of Final Fantasy summons tend to be bosses from previous games, I think it's about time we saw Sephiroth as a summon. Arguably one of the most favored FF bad guys (with good cause!), and possibly the most universally recognizable as well. I would love to see him in some demigod-like form, wielding his insane sword and unleashing holy hell upon any foe standing his path.

Desi
Jul 14 2007, 05:34 PM
Not counting that you had to fight most summons before you got them starting from FFIII. A lot of summons weren't bosses from previous games but I suspect you are using the summon cast of XII as your main point. Less then 1/4 of summons throughout the whole series were even bosses/enemies. I believe the world would be fine without a final boss based summon.

Leviathan, Alexander, Anima, Eden, Pheonix, and Bahamut would be very epic summons seeing as they are all magnificent in their own way. I'm glad carbuncle is in FF. I liked Leviathan because he was the first Water based elemental summon I ever saw. Alexander was holy and this huge machine. Anima... I don't even have to say. Eden was the strongest summon in FFVII and I liked Pheonix because he was a support and an attack which is very useful. And Bahamut is just amazing. What are your thoughts? Some FFXII summons would be nice since they were refreshing compared to the rehashed continuation of ifrit, shiva, and bahamut. And they were plentiful too...................
