New Charecter Designs

I'm wondering whose doing the designs for FFXIII, becasuse they are quite different and I have to say I'm loving them. They aern't very Nomura-ish is he responsible?

First of all, while I am a huge fan of androgenous charecters, Mr 33cm is a welcome stylistic change, facial hair! Also i'm not sure why people keep saying he's got blue eyes:

Clearly brown! The design of the new girl is pretty cool too. Shes not Europanease for once! Neither is Mr 33cm for that matter. If anything I'd say shes got a Jewish-type look about her.

So anyway, yes I love the new charecters looks. Thoughts? Comments? Opinions? Kittens?

It looks like some sort of strange new imagining of a staff. If there were to have anything resembling job classes I'd hazard a guess that she'd be the white mage-esque charecter.

I love the new designs of the character, I have to say that Mr 33cm actually looks more masculine than I thought he would which is good. :) Don't want too many bishi-men in Final Fantasy do we. ^^;

The girl is very interesting, something about her just makes her very interesting methinks, oh and let's not forget Lightning. Probablly the most intriguing character yet for me.

Anywho..I personally love the designs.It`s finally good to see not that much belts,and zippers in some of Nomura`s designs.By looking at Pigtails girl,I say that Nomura wanted to go a bit primative with her design(god,did I say that right? D: ).By looking at the top image at scan 3 I can say Pulse is a more primative world,not medieval-ish type of world,but an Stone Age-ish world and Nomura wanted Pigtails girl to fit in with Pulse.I mean I never saw cave people wearing belts and zippers.If Pulse is a world based on the Stone age wouldn`t it be weird to see people who live in Pulse wear lots of belts?

I think the FFXIII characters are more "classic" FF character designs... Versus feels very AC/KH2 era. I think Nomura knows how to do both, but he's just been doing a whole lot of black clothing and zippers AC/KH2 now for some reason @_@; I think the "Europanese" thing is part of that too, somewhat ~_~

It is nice to see color and dramatic clothing again~ But I like the Versus characters too XD

The thing in her hand is a bow. XD See scan of Game Informer that I haven't posted yet. >___>;

Sorry. FF clothing has never been particularly realistic >______>; That's why they're so much fun to cosplay. Awesome costumes.

The designs on XIII are indeed way better than VersusXIII or many other Nomura FFs (on par with FF8 so far). They look more creative overall, and just to emphasize what everyone has said before: Mr 33cm actually looks manly!
I was talking about that just one or two days ago with Blankie, coincidently X)

The first one is totally possible if you see the art Parasite Eve or Final Fantasy XI (not current).

I don't mind using a bow...I mean it's something not used very often in FF except for Tactics and that's like a choice or certain class....

I mean come on, daggers/swords and guns are used so much in Final Fantasies...I think a bow would be cool...so long as it's good...and it has range aswell.....and FFXII was a license thing you could choose to use or not use certain weapons....

I like the pigtail girl's look, and I'm digging the beard for blondie...overall I'd say these character designs have more to offer then versus in my personal opinion...Versus has this Advent Children thing goin on I think.....

In response to your first post Dream, I have to agree with you about the Jewish/Hebrew look for the girl....the diversity should be good in this game...

My friend (who is well versed in all matter FF) told me today he remembers an interview where they reference that Nomura told someone else to design Lightning as a 'female Cloud'. If this is true then I guess we could assume he didn't actually design these charecters.

I think it would be cool if you could like shoot someone with the arrow and then make the arrow explode when it hits something, now that would be cool.
I don't know why but the bow seems so boring to me... o.o

The bow looks more like a more realistic modern day bow, just looks different cos its got a FF design on it.

Its also entirely possible that she has either different bows or ranged weapons (like the emo kid does but he does it with swords)

Another thing is that it could be a bow that works awfully alot like a gun. You load the arrows and they go out like, 'Ping ping ping'. Haha...what do I know.

I think she'll probably be a mix of an archer and a bit of summoning/white magic. I'll probably go the route of summoning and white magic with her, though. :]

But so far, all the characters are nothing if not Nomura spawn. I miss the Kimahri and Aurons of the FF world. Mr.33's facial hair is not of a saving grace to dub him a Seifer clone. Lightning is, as discussed, Cloud with long, pink hair. The new Selphie/16 year old Kairi looks somewhat new in comparison with what we've seen so far... but not too much.

Erm, anyway. Mr 33cm does not look like Nomuras usual style, his males usually are that form of Europanese Adrogenous guy, whereas Mr 33cm is quite masculine and looks mostly western European. Plus calling the new girl a Selphie clone is a bit harsh. Yes shes a small sprightly girl, but small and spunky (looking) does not a Selphie make.

Anyways these new character designs look fine to me, they're certainly no worse than some of Nomura's previous works. I just hope the actual game is as good as the visuals (and can we please have a game world that is wide open and ripe for exploration like in FFXII and not a load of towns connected by linear tunnels like FFX?).

theres nothing wrong with them.. so we have another all human FFs story... so far couse i havnt seen any nonhuman caracters besides the avatars.

if anything... this has a hint of FF8.. with FF7 artwork.. i dont think she looks anything like Cloud with Pink hair... i dont mind the main caracter beeing female eather.. as long as her personality is not like Yuna's or Rikus from that FFX-2.

i just want the caracters to feel real.. like whatever i do in the game with them, is really me doing it with them, not me controling some mindless AIs.

After does scans from yesterday.. im hyped up... cant wait for these 2 games to be in my PS3 :)
