I think Tidus should have been a central character in the game and Yevon where after him for some reason, So Yuna goes against the world to try and save Tidus, and Spira should have changed since X too

What people in Spira is that Sin will only go away if they atone for their sins, right? When Yuna made the speech, she didn't mention the whole thing that Yu Yevon was the cause of Sin being there in the first place. So, there will be sides to take, just like what they did in X2, there was the..religious people, i dont know what they're called there, and the "rebels" that used the machines.

Anyway, i'll say that the machinas have been put to use, it's not just been to put to use to build new crap, ie, towns.

X-2 should have been less like X. More fighting, less talking, pretty much a dungeon crawler. It would have been amazing. Now it only has the best ATB system and shitty youtube videos.
