In the one corner we've got Lightning... redhead, blue eyes. In the other "what's his name" EMO dude. Bluehead, red eyes(what has he been smokin?). :P They can both fight....nasty. I don't know whether you've seen FF: Advent Children... but this is ridiculous. This is the Matrix ft Dragonball Z x 100. Is this the next trend in heroes? Superathletic and stuff? Must they all be supernatural now?

Tell me what you think ^_^

...Perhaps an overdose on Mako.

It's Final Fantasy...it's nothing new to be honest.

I would like to correct you at this point, personally, and say that I believe that Lightning's hair is pink. And Fancy Prince Boy's is some weird magic changing hair color.

It's called Final Fantasy for a reason. Fantasy is known to be a bit over the top sometimes.

And people like it when their characters have cool powers. It's part of the genre.

Alright...pink it is then. And some weird magic changing hair color that looks a lot like BLUE .

Ow I also like it when characters have cool powers... I just hope the focus will be more on the story than on their powers and battles. Otherwise it'll turn out to be just as crappy as the anime Bleach.

Also.. it is known that characters in FF start out on the low end of the level-spectrum (lvl 1). If they have those kind of powers at lvl 1... I can't imagine what they can do when they're lvl 100. Kill 50 guys in 1 second without noticably moving an inch? :)

...Perhaps an overdose on Mako.

Whahaha that's a good one.

If that wasn't a joke then:

I've played FFVII...aren't they supposed to look like those freaks in containment tanks at the Nibelheim Reactor? Isn't that what happens when you're exposed to high levels of Mako? ^_^

dude ff games always follow a story and have a plot, any way most of the cool moves r in the battles and i think its cool that there using them in the cutscenses now. u cant compare an ff game to bleach man, there completly differnt. any way why complain about the powers, would u rather play a bland boring game?

And besides, what we think is "strong" may not be strong in their world. After all, we contrasted his strength to those weakling soldiers.

Also.... didn't Cloud have an overdose of Mako (or more than his body can handle)? Why didn't he look like those people in the containers then?

You know what's fun and probably an unusual and original experience? Using the Edit button! :cookie:

And these are video games, specifically FANTASY video games; they're not meant to be and the majority of their audience don't want them to be realistic. Realistically, either Cloud would have to be superhumanly strong or the Buster Sword would have to be made of cardboard for him to pick it up with his puny little arms and swing it around like he does. To say nothing of the good ole days when weapons would magically appear and disappear, the frequently unrealistic hair styles, the use of magic and the summouning of strange and powerful monsters. What's that? They're staples of the genre? EXACTLY.

hahaha... not once have I even used the word "realistic" or "realism" and people automatically assume that's what I mean. Sure, it's probably the world the characters are in or an overdose on something...you can think of all kinds of explanations. They don't have to be real. I'm perfectly fine with that. What I'm saying is : it's a noticeable trend (see FF: AC). Good or bad...we'll see.

Please read before you react....and don't assume stuff so easily.

I'm sorry but 10 hour 30C days with several hours on top of that on public transport obviously negatively affects my cognitive functions. My point was that of course it's 'a noticeable trend', it's a defining characteristic of the genre, although I did get off on a tangent.

I'm not complaining... i didn't say they shouldn't do it. I'm saying the focus shouldn't be exclussively on the powers and battles. Their role should serve the story... never be just a flashy show (whee look what i can do). Cuz sometimes in games and movies there are scenes that have no actual purpose...they just fill space.

Sure you can compare Bleach and FFXIII. It's not a complete comparison though. The comparison I made was on 2 grounds only....the powers and battles: extravagant speedy flashy attacks. That kind of stuff.

It's okay :) My brain would be like gelly in those circumbstances and i would mutter sounds that would befit a resident evil zombie...so the fact that you wrote full correct sentences in those conditions is an achievement. ^_^

dont double post!
here might be a nice explanation that you can comprehend:
maybe what we saw isnt in the beginning, but halfway through the game?? and that you need to level up in order to aqcuire those skills?

Another thing with Versus Prince's powers, you could start out with them like that and then lose them (similar to Jade from Tales of the Abyss), and you need to regain them through the game.

It's possible. I don't think we are going to start out super powerful like that in the beginning, but by the end of the game we will be able to do what is shown in the trailer easily.

devil may cry 4: dante could've easily wiped out every single one of them demons.... easily!.... but since we were playing them it was a bit harder... i think if you want to pull that off in the versus trailed you need timing... press the right button to shield yourself.... at the right time.... throw a sword and teleport... (dont think he can break necks, or use the weapon of an enemy) it's not that over the top....
