Believe, Clone, we actually have people here who never played FF7 :aldo: Only read about it on various sites and wikipedia :rolleyes: or watched Advent Children and think that's all they need to know. But that's general knowledge, not plot details. As difficult as it is for some of you to believe, there are some people who don't know the story to a game that was released ten years ago now, no matter how popular it is. Especially for some of the younger users. Even I don't know the full story to FFVIII because I've never played it the full way through. I also don't know what happens in X-2 or XII. So just because you and most other people know something, it doesn't mean everyone else does, so it should still be kept quiet.

It's very hard to discuss any game over 10 years old (like 7) without excessive use of spoilers. It's a decade old, if you haven't played it already and care what happens and haven't bothered to find out somehow already, you're out of luck. Anything new to the storyline of the games that is revealed only in Crisis Core (which isn't widely available yet) that doesn't have a spoiler warning will be frowned upon, anything mentioned that occured in the original game is fair. It's too old and even if you haven't played it, if you've been hanging around Final Fantasy forums and you don't know the basic plot by now you haven't been paying enough attention. You may not know specifics but if you haven't been spoiled already you probably will be before you get around to playing it, even if it doesn't happen here or now.

I started with FFIX >.> And I'm sorry but that's just a stupid statement all around. FFVII is ten years old. There are ten year old kids out there now who are old enough to have a PS3 and want FFXIII who have probably never played FFVII because its so hard to come by. I don't want XIII just because i started playing VII.
I started on IV, and went on through the series.
And i don't see how you cannot get into an FF game because you haven't started with FVII. The series is RPG based, and they are a different story for each installment. So it's bullshit saying you can't play really get into the series without playing VII.
It wasn't that mindblowing anyway, but it was a good game.

As for CC, i found it to be a good game, the battle system was relativly good, but it felt a bit to bash and mash like the KH battle system.
As for the storyline, it's known from VII and the 30 minute movie SE did on the events before VII, so the storyline isn't relativly boring and the characters are good, but not amazing.

Plus you shouldn't just buy a PSP for two games, it offers ALOT more than just two games which you are interested in, there are some games already out on the PSP that are worth buying, you shouldn't restrict yourself just for two games.

FFVII is retro by today's standards. Enough time has passed now that there are kids who have never even played on a PlayStation but own a PS2 or a PS3, and by their standards, the PlayStation is retro.

But aside from that, I've played enough modern games to just be plain bored by something like FFVII, because it's too damn slow now. That's why I class it as retro because it's so old I don't want to play it anymore.

I never said FFVII wasn't a good game, I said that it's too old and slow compared to today's games for me to be arsed to play it. FFVII is a great game and yeah, it probably is one of the best RPG's out there, but that doesn't change anything for me. That's why I want a remake, so I can enjoy it properly. And no, I wouldn't touch FFI to VI no matter how amazing they might be because I just can't play games like that anymore, not when I have fast-paced, 3D games to play like Crisis Core and Kingdom Hearts.

I don't care how closely it matches the Japanese one, I had even less chance of playing that version. Plus it's not like they're infallible when it comes to casting. That type of voice just annoys me in a lead character like Zack. I'll look at the other clips though and see if my opinion improves.

Wow GI wasn't lying that the game is very short. Picked up the guide and after all the intro stuff at page 21 the story ends at 93. Much of the 270+ pages is filled with materia, missions, bestiary and art.

Still probably take me two months - infinite to finish though.

edit: Don't use Angeal and Sephiroth. Angeal is only rated when he goes mad otherwise he was always dead sounding. Sephiroth isn't Lance Bass so he automatically fails.

And the slots system is ghey they should make whether you pull of limit breaks based on skill rather than luck. And this stupid system of leveling up when you get 777 seems really unstable and stupid.

Other than that, it's still pretty good for a PSP game.

I love the battle system! I love how there is no loading time after a battle is over. It goes right back into the action. The extra mission are cool because you can play them even if you are in a hurry because they are pretty short. I give this game a 9.25 out of 10.

For people still in doubt of getting this I just say
If I had to pick either this or GoW(since that is apparently the 'best' psp game around), I'd still go for CC.
Even though I love the gore and fighting in GoW, after 2 hours it all just felt the same and the cso went right in the trash bin ^_^
Cant stop playing CC though, its stays awesome even though I've completed it 3 times already..
Still hate the voices in the US version, only finished it to understand the story a little better.

So they kind of want to offer it for nothing but just have you write something to make the contest a little bit more substantial, I guess. X-Play does make fun of JRPG's a lot that's true and yes I do think they are a bit biased. But there are games I would give 5 stars that they have rated 4, 3, or even 2. They only time I REALLY listen to reviews is when the majority of people say a game sucks. Then I watch game play videos on you tube if there available to see for myself. I kind of don't get reviews they are helpful sometimes and can save you money but is that person you? Does the same things that annoy them going to annoy you? maybe or maybe not. Well not unless everyone in the world has about the same opinions on everything which we all know that isn't true. Thats how I think of movie reviews as well. I just always rather see for myself.
