so i was searching around the internets on anything with "final fantasy" and "xiii" in it and came across this. its actually mostly the same as that previous 1up article on crystal tools (they're talking to the same guy, Murata), but he says they released version 1.0 of crystal tools internally in Sept 2007. interesting....:)

they must be well into the development of the game now version 1.0 was released.

Oh yes, I remember reading this now :aldo:. All it really means is Final Fantasy XIII was being built on a pre-release build of the Crystal Tools and added to. I suppose as 1.0 was finished in September there could be other games being developed on it right now.

Hi:

I just want to know How could they use ALL the potential of the PLAYSTATION 3 with a Multiplatform Engine?
I mean:
Full HD at 60fps,
6 SPU's for Games,
7.1 Ch Uncompressed Audio,
Cell+RSX+Blu-ray+HDD+SixAxiS,
128bit Color (48bit HDMI 1.3),

Maybe we wont see that on FFXIII or FFVXIII but, with a Multi platform Engine, could they do that someday on PLAYSTATION 3?

As far as I know White Engine (Crystal Tools) was mainly focused at PlayStation 3 platform at first, so obviously it's optimised to use on PS3, and even it being a multiplatform engine doesn't mean it won't take fully or almost full advantage of it's hardware.
