Final Fantasy XIII at E3? Opinions

Do you think that Final Fantasy XIII will appear at E3, and if so, which trailer will they show?

I think FFXIII will definitely show up because SE did say that 2008 will be the year where a lot of info on the game will be released.

Well, this is pretty obvious that they'll show something in E3 2008, as LightningXIII posted above even Nomura himself said "2008 will be the year of Final Fantasy XIII/Fabula Nova Crystallis", and about the trailer, most likely the TGS 2007 Trailer. I don't know but I think that there'll be some Final Fantasy XIII Real Time footage along with the trailer.

yeah with the amont of time that their taking just to show us a damn 4 minute trailer that was released a long time ago. but just look at the last two months...no new news.so i doubt alot of stuff.

Well, I just don't think SE will let any kind of information slip out anytime soon, we all know Square has been very secretive around their big budgets titles as DQ IX and FNC, They showed us some Real-Time footage of Final Fantasy XIII last year in Cloud DVD Trailer and back at E3 2006, and it means that they're in a good stage of development, IMO.

This lack of information given to us until now could mean:

A-) They're going to blow us out with a lot of info at E3 08;TGS08,Jf 2008.
B-) They're having some challenges with the hardware itself.
C-) They're working full speed to get the game gold to polish it up later.

Yeah, E3 last year was...hmmmm, sorta strange, this is the major Game Convention in the US expect for E 4 All right now, but Square hasn't released any new trailer of information for North America/Europe but the ones shown in E3 2006.

Don't think it'll make an appearance at the Games Convention in Leipzig either.

Yeah, Last Remnant has been in the shadows for ages now, Star Ocean IV should be a PS3 exclusive since Infinite Discovery is Xbox 360 exclusive, as we know Sony has a part of Square-Enix right now (8,56% if I'm right) which be really usefull these times. Dunno, but tri-Ace is a SE parent company, so if Sony controls a part of SE they also control tri-Ace, am I right? :P

e.g. Infinite Discovery, they releasing the characters names, the world the story takes place, in-game screens, battle system, the main plot, they didn't give us everything but they do give us something new to talk and look forward to it...you know, keep us hyped for the game and all, and it seems that FNC is not going to follow this kind of path at all.

True story. I will most certainly spew various body fluids all over myself if SE pulls a huckle-buck on us like Ubisoft did with RSV2.

I'd like to think they'll give us some goods at E3, but I'm starting to think GDC is the more likely candidate here. Maybe they'll give us a couple new screens/new trailer at E3 and then blow our asses off (whatever that means) at GDC. I know that if *I* were in charge of a popular new game's flow of content to the public, I'd take great pleasure in keeping the entire thing a secret (kind of like what we're experiencing with SE right now) until I was ready to surprise the hell out of people with movies, gameplay footage, playable demos, and every piece of information they could possibly take in at a single event. Not that I think that's what they're planning to do...

Regardless, if we don't get some new information pretty soon, I'm gonna GO NUTS. I'll probably carve "XIII" onto my face and stop talking to friends and family. After that, I'll be fired from my job and start drinking heavily everyday, all through the morning hours. Consequently, I'll develop a mental illness wherein confusion and delusions fester, eventually hurling me into a state of catatonic schizophrenia.

And then... finally... I'll wait some more. Because none of that shit will put FNC into my hands any sooner. Unfortunately.

If they don't show anything at E3 then they will show something at TGS. If they don't show anything this year, then I will be disappointed. There's no reason for them not to show something, especially if it's coming out next year. If it's not coming out next year, then that would explain why it's a no show this year. I hope they reveal some new things somewhere this year. Any little bit would be nice. :)

They've already said that 2008 will be the year of Final Fantasy XIII, so lets be patient and see what they give us. Most likely the reason they are being so secretive is because if they gave us all the information it sort of takes away from discovering things ourselves, I mean, I understand that I lost interest in FF12 because they never released information, but they gave us all the characters back stories and everything right off the bat when they did release them, so I already knew everything about the characters when I did start to play the game, it made it dull and just plain shit to play, I had no emotional connection to any characters in that particular game because of how square handled their releasing of information. To be honest, I dont actually mind that Square Enix aren't releasing that much information, Im patient and can therefore handle the gap. I get that everyone is wanting new information, but the fact is, they're releasing what needs to be said at this point because they've probably got something new and fresh and they just dont want to spoil it for the fans, and new fans either.

I think with Final Fantasy the name itself builds the hype. With IU people just go "what the shit is that?" its the same with TLR they haven't released that much on that game and people are "dissing" it because of this. With TLR and IU they need to hype them to make them popular, FF is such a big franchise that the hype builds itself, keeping gamers away from trailers/gameplay of IU and TLR would only damage the games because noone would care with FF keeping the trailers/gameplay away makes people want it more thus building hype.

FF is one of the rare games where you get hyped for the next one straight after you finish the one that was just released. The only other game i know of that got me WANTING a sequel or another game this gen is Uncharted. That game was made of awesome.

Will they release stuff at E3? hmmm, i think they will but what they will release will be to rebuild some of the lost hype (people getting annoyed by no trailers/gameplay) and build more hype for TGS when they will obviously have a huge media blowout at.

For me, the only thing I HAVE TO SEE this year is how the new Airship system will work. I enjoy a FF game more if it has controllable airships.
