BT: When you say windows of opportunity do you mean a remake? It’s one thing that fans have been very vocal about wanting…
YK: My feelings are that if a remake were to work well then all the core members of the original team must be reassembled, all the artists and designers.
The problem is that, although all of us have an idea of what a remake should be and how to do it, organising such a thing right now is logistically very difficult. All the different members are now involved in very new, very large projects like Final Fantasy XIII and those projects are going to take a while.
Although it's only losely related to Final Fantasy XIII and I hate remake threads, which would you prefer, Final Fantasy XIII first or Remake?

I suspected this all along, and before I knew anything about FFXIII, I was bitter towards it for getting in the way of a FFVII remake. But then when I actually took the time to put aside my anger and watch the FFXIII trailers, I became excited for those games. I think I'd be happy with either one coming out first, at this point. And I don't harbor any ill feelings towards FFXIII anymore. :D

I think FFXIII is a remake of FFVII somwhat. It's obvious that SE is trying to repeat the sucess of FFVII, and so the games will be similiar. I'm not too bothered about which one I want first, but I hope that that a remake gets made eventually. (Even if it's for Cloud eye-candy.... hehe). <3

The fact that Tetsuya Nomura is was asked to make a 'female Cloud' and the theme with technology vs nature. Also, there're the push to create something new and exicfiting with new hardware/software available (like they were doing with VII).
I'm not saying it's going to be EXACTLY LIKE VII, but similiar. SE seems to be pushing this to be more sucessful, by marketing this as a HQ version of VII.
Look at the graphics, similiar to the FFVII demo that was shown, and even the character design (although they could have made it look more realistic and anatomic -sp?-) remains as it would have done in the demo and the Advent Children movie. Heck, Versus is being said to replicate the battles of AC.
Well, anyway, that's what i think. ^_^

Different characters.
Different plot.
Different theme.
I don't see the relation. :aldo:

Really? :P It just seemed to me that what SE are doing now is what they wanted to do if they'd had the capabilities a decade ago (the train scene in the trailer for example). Oh well.
Still, I answered the topic question. To me they're so similiar/familiar it wouldn't matter which one came out first. I just want something good to play. :)

Personally i don't care.
And i don't dare relate it to another, it just seems to belittle the game and what it offers when you compare it to another.
And why replay a game just for it's graphical enhancements. I'd rather play the original rather than paying 50 more pounds just because it's been updated in one way or another.
It just seems unnessacery and a waste of time when they could be placing their time into something else.
And from you placing your opinion, i'm placing mine. This is a topic of discussion afterall. :aldo:

I understand what you mean. Even in an interview a little while ago they stated that they were aiming to recreate the jump from FFVI to FFVII. Personally I wouldn't be annoyed if they decided not to make a remake but it would be a stupid business move. I definitley don't want it to stop them making something new which could possibly be much better.

If this was a japan forum, FFVII would win by a landslide, so many fanboys/girls want this remade it isnt even funny.
If its stopping a new final fantasy game, then at least they are smart enough to make the newer one first then sometime in the future they will release the remake. They know the remake is going to sell no matter how long they take to make it.
As for which i prefer, newer games with hopefully original storylines and characters will always win me over. Its not the best rpg series imo but it will always provide a solid rpg journey.

I'm sick of seeing FFVII where it was totally popular in its release because Cloud's hairstyle was a total blowout at the time ('97).

XIII, no doubt. haz moar i'z :aldo: And srsly, if I downloaded VII by now (which I have), SE wouldn't give damn. It's from before the fusion and it's 12 years old...so I can play it as I want. I'm currently by the BFG9000-cannon-thingie, can't see the reason for the hype yet...

Well, anyway, that's what i think. ^_^It's similar to FFVII's demo because it's the best CG that they have at this moment. FTW i didn't see that coming.

The FFVII demo was running off Crystal Tools in real-time, it wasn't CG. If they were to remake it that's what gameplay would look like. :aldo:

I'm sure real-time would look better now anyway. God look at Uncharted and that was last year. :aldo:

I would rather see an original storyline than a remake
Of course Fabula Nova Crystallis Project (not FFXIII itself) is kinda slowing down this remake, but imo if they were about to remake FF VII they first of all should call back Hironobu Sakaguchi xP...but in fact they have all their teams working on big titles so we'll have to wait to have this remake...I'd like to see a remake and how it can be done now.

Who cares, with the shit that the Compilation's done to the story, the remake would probably suck anyway.

they should finish 13 before the remake of 7. That reminds me......ladies first so haha Lightning first before Cloud. yeah but sometimes we can't wait for what'll come with the remake. I have thoughts that the remake will definitely match 13.

I think they should fuse FFXIII and FFVII and have Lightning and Cloud with a child. I think Normura should name it Thunder Cloud
Who cares about a remake if it happens great if it doesnt just play the original

I almost thought this thread was a joke/retard posting when I looked at the title until I saw who posted it and what the contents were. I'm all for FFXIII first, most of us have already played FFVII, graphical enhancements can wait until later. This also reminds me of how retarded and how much I hate capcom after that wanking director who made the remake of Resident Evil 1 on the game cube was interviewed saying RE1 director's cut or whatever on nintendo game cube was better than kingdom hearts. It takes a really huge pride and an IQ of 2 to say a remake is better than a fresh new game that garnered a huge fan base of its own. I stopped playing Capcom games after that. Fuckin' retards.

I would much rather have XIII and the fact that it won't be out for a while kills me, while the VII remake would be cool XIII should be the priority.

I'd prefer to see a totally new game (well 13 for that matter)
But if they was going to be a remake, i'd not want the EXACT same to be in there, maybe it to have a bit more depth, going from PS1 to PS3, 600mb disc to 50GB disc, they could easily add in a lot more features and story and side stuff, which would make it better. It'd be good to do it, especially with all these spin offs.

I strongly agree with you about FFXIII ^_^, I really prefer a totally new game than a remake one.
As for your opinion about the FFVII remake, I think it will be a waste of time and a waste of our waiting..... I believe adding more features, stories and side stuff in VII remake it might make it better somehow, but I still think it will be a waste of time making a remake for old and known story....I mean you will playing a game that you already know it's ending like crisis core ^_____^.

I'd prefer to see Final Fantasy XIII on the shelves first and it doesn't really bother me that it might be delaying the Final Fantasy VII remake. To be honest, the Final Fantasy VII remake will sell no matter what and if FFXIII is successful it could see Square-Enix gaining a larger generation of fresh fans; after all, the ultimate business move would be to pick up on the scoop from FFXIII.
I do see the similarities in terms of the "feel" of the two games as they're both quite sterile, futuristic and dark. The only way I can sort of explain the connection I see is that they both slightly remind of that cheesy 1980s sci-fi move Total Recall :P

Okay one game at a time please!
I just want them to finish Final fantasy XIII games
Making too many games at once is one of square-enix's problems, it takes forever to complete one game because they are so busy with so many other things

I would prefer them release Final Fantasy XIII first. I really do not care about a Final Fantasy VII remake i play FFVII and though the graphics are outdated (I never really cared for pretty graphics that much, though they do add some more emotion to it i still feel for the characters of FFVI and FFIV) i still enjoy FFVII

I still don't think a remake will even happen, and I would actually feel a bit betrayed if they did it. Although it would be nice to see it in HD next-gen graphics with a remastered script and a well-casted VA line-up, but I just don't think it would be the best of moves. The ONLY way I'd really appreciate it is if they kept the battle system completely as it is, with only clean-ups on the layout of it, like hollowing out the menu popups and such. And made Cloud a little LESS angst-y.
The main reason I oppose it so vehemently is because I'm torn between two feelings on it - I don't know if I would dislike it more if it felt like the same game or if it felt vastly different. I liked FF7 when I played it the first time, and I've liked it the 5 times through after that, but a remake will NOT make me play it any more often than I already do, unless it was just... REALLY amazing. And I don't think they could muster something of the sort. If they did, it would take them the entier lifespan of the PS3, IMO. I feel that they just need to focus on continuing the FF series and not on remaking the classics. They're classics, for Jenova's sake.
I swear, sometimes I wish they hadn't even made that cursed tech demo...
