Square Enix has announced their finances for their 2008 year. To their dismay, they are seeing a loss of 3 billion yen aka $29 million US dollars. So to deal with their losses, President Yoichi Wada of SE said that they will be canceling a "revolutionary mobile development." Considering all the reports of Final Fantasy Agito XIII have been extremely positive, and all haling it's technical supremacy. Oh freaking well. Thanks FF-XIII.net

no they didnt. they didnt mention any titles, but they said that production was halted and was put on hold, i think. if they cancelled agito, that would scar them because theyve announced it and had shown so many things and that would be very stupid. i dont think it was cancelled.>_<

well i think they're cancelling it being on the phone and mught put it on the PSP.

I extremely doubt that.
They have invested so much money into this project, being this far in they wouldn't cancel it now and then re start development for the same title upon a different system.

As it is stated, as they are loosing a vast amount of money they are cancelling their "revolutionary mobile development", not the game itself.
The game will most likely still go ahead, just not the development they are currently making into mobile phone gaming technology.

Saw this yesterday. The chances of Agito being cancelled are very unlikely. Think about it, Square-Enix has a lot of mobile games in development so I doubt any of the major ones would be cancelled. Besides, the Fabula Nova Compilation is supposed to cost 100 billion yen. Money won't be a problem for this project.

but if they're losing money, then obviously its natural to reconsider expenditure outlooks. they only projected it would cost 100billion back in 2006. along the way they're going to reconfigure that number when their circumstances change.

The translation from another site precisely said "production has been suspended on major titles", and not "cancel". And yeah, no titles have been cited but seeing as how he mentioned "major titles", people are having a guess it would be Agito and Coded.

Wow I read up on this news a while ago before it was everywhere and I said to myself "You know what in about 2 days this is going to be everywhere with people saying "OMG TeH AGITO got CANCELLED!!!!111!1!1!!1!!!!!" Even if that isn't the case the report clearly states at this moment that production on major titles has been suspended. This could mean a number of things but in no way confirms any cancellations. Actually the potential that they would be ported somewhere else would be a nice thought, though I know that is quite a stretch. Personally I would love to see Agito or Kingdom Hearts Coded somewhere other than a phone simply because it would lessen the chance that it would come to North America or other territories.

*ahem* anyways...I dont think agito will be a big seller in the us or eve the uk or Canada...I mean yes we have our phones and such BUT we arent as mobile high tech as Japan, which means (I think) most of the agito sales will be from Japan and like Nau said BC sold; so why shouldnt this one?

Mobile Games tend to only sell really well in Japan. I just don't think the West are too into the whole play a game on your mobile. When I think of mobile phone games / cell phone games, I think of snake and space invaders :P - how primative we are XD

Meh, if it was canceled, I wouldn't care. It's not like I would be able to play it, unless it went to the PSP. In fact right now, Agito is the least interesting FFXIII game currently. I don't know, the interesting part could change with more information, but I doubt it. Now, I wonder what that mobile game that they are getting rid of is. *ponders*

ew that sucks but...then again...I mean it makes sense for their finance as it's not exactly that great if it doesn't reach a wider audience. Unless it's for mobile phones everywhere.

It is not cancelled, but i think it will be good if they can consider releasing this game in multiple platform rather then solely on mobile phone. More people can get to play if they release it on PSP. I will be interested to buy if this game is on PSP.

It's definitely not canceled, I believe I even heard them talking about it somewhere in the past couple of days during E3.
