Play UK FFXIII Extract - 2% Complete?

The new issue of Play UK is based around the future of the PS3. It contains a small extract on Final Fantasy XIII about the game most likely launching in Japan in 2008. It also mentions that the game is only 2% complete. If that's true look forward to a very distant English release.

I dont think its a spelling mistake. Its a sale trick. When the game is out nobody will remember that small "error" they made.

What do you mean a sales trick?

Well basically, at the rate they are working at the minute.... say if they did 13% we dont know how long that took them.... but if it is 20% and they did 7% in..... what? Okay september it was 13% and now in February its 20% ish? So 7% in 4 months. So basically 7/4 = 1.75% per month....

therefore..... 87/1.75 = 50 months!

OMG if they keep working at this rate then its going to be just over 4 years before we even see FFXIII..... that makes me sick. Its just like FFXII all over again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They have like 4-5 other projects under development. They don't have full attention on FNC yet.

Well like Dante said, just cos its stated in the article, doesnt mean its official that Squeenix have only progressed by 2% and you definately cannot estimate just how quickly they will make it.

Hi, I'm a newbie to this forum. Nice to meet everyone. I noticed a conflict between 2 following articles and really want to clear it up.
Please check out this PSM UK article from the "scans" section. It said that the game was 80% completed.

I am so confused!?! Please anyone confirm this info. Which one is accurate? What is the latest info about FFXIII game development? Will I see any update on FFXIII and Versus on the home page?

Your post pretty much answers the question. xD There is no confirmation. Thats whats confusing us too at the moment, no one knows. I reckon theyre both wrong. 3% is so pathetically low they'd never announce that. And UK mags are very often wrong.

So I guess no one knows exactly. Just wish that it's gonna be released soon. Can't wait! But I personally think that percentage complete is not related with time because they did say that they started planning it along with KHII. That was quite a while ago, don't you think? Maybe making the game doesn't take as long as planning the game. Developing the characters, the story, the art, and marketing takes quite some time and effort and after all that, Square Enix can say that the game is 0% complete.
If I think of it that way, the game is making good progress actually.
