I'm heading out to NYC next week, and i was wondering whether it would be a good all round idea to buy a PS3 out there and bring it home. As the PS3 is region free, i can't really see this disadvantage. 'cept not being able to play PS2 games but thats why I have a PS3.
Anyone here from around that area know anything about price/availability?

I dont think availability is too bad, and it is cheaper than the we're gunna get in the UK.
The only downside really is you get no warranty, so if it fucks up you just wasted £300.

Downsides are: can't play region 3 blu-rays and all your online matches would be set up with people in North America. Most games so far are region locked in multiplayer mode and we(baltimore) get rowdy when we have a mic.

So really the only upside is the price (thank you poor exchange rates) and the fact ill have a PS3? Yea i heard about the online region thing. Then again they might change that after the Euro release. Didn't even consider warantee lol

Personally I dont think its worth it if you've already pre-ordered.
