Vayne had more screentime than Cid, it's just Cid seemed to do more in his scenes.

I've just finished the game and I really enjoyed it - I wasn't disappointed at all.
It does feel different to the other games in the series but that's a positive as far as I'm concerned because it gives the game it's own unique identity. The storyline and characters are vastly underrated and have more depth than a lot of people here seem to give credit. A major plus is that it avoided a lot of plot devices from previous games that have just become cliches now, for example at no point did anyone suffer from amnesia and the 'main character' wasn't an emotionally stunted loner with a mysterious past.

The final battle was a little easy, it only took me two attemps to defeat Vayne, but I thought the scenes at the end with Larsa and Gabranth turning against him were really dramatic and a great finish (even though it was reminiscent of Return of the Jedi).

Remember that the final boss in FF games is there just so that you can finish the story, it's not supposed to be too hard otherwise nobody would see the expensively made end sequences. The real challenge in FF games is fighting all the optional boss monsters which are always considerably harder than the final boss and are a real test of a players skill, like the Weapon monsters in FF7, Omega in FF8, Nemesis and Penance in FF10 etc.

If you want a real challenge in FFXII, try defeating all the hunts, elite marks, rare monsters and fighting the ultimate enemy, Yiazmat, then you'll see just how hard the game can be!

To sum up, I loved FFXII, but I think it's obvious it's going to be one of those games like FF8 and FF9 that are either loved with a passion or loathed with a vengeance by the FF fans.

XII some time. His defence skyrockets at critical, as you only do damage in the 3-400's...and the you get the useless wyrmslayer with 80% combo when all the big fucks are taken care of...much more fun on a hacked game XD

well id say vayne was a complete let down, i was expecting somthing more challenging. the first too stages were nothing, he was a complete walk over however i did lose on satage three but only once.All u need to beat him is curaga and just basch him to death with your wepons, no tactics involed.

Id say cid was hader than him, i lost to his esper a few times and after u beat him his esper become usless. This is the cace for all the espers, the are quite hard to best then when u own them they are usless.

He was definitely surprisingly weak. Before I battled him, I took the time to go get all the optional espers, but when I battled him with my guys at about level 70, they took him down in a few minutes without me having to do ANYTHING but watch them take him down with their gambits. I never even used most of those espers.

I was suprised by the fact how easil I beat the boss, I was expecting something really hardcore espesially because I found the whole game quite difficult, most of bosses and quests in game were not so easy and that guy, not comment
maybe they tried to make the game more easy to make more availebe fo all sorts of players?
